Integrated Service Digital Network
  - ISDN is an ITU-T standard public digital telecommunications network implemented in many
countries throughout the globe. ISDN provides two 64kbps data channels each of which could
be used to terminate an Inmarsat-B HSD call. Since the network is fully digital
technology, the overall quality is significantly improved over standard analog telephone
networks. ISDN networks support higher data rates and set-up times are significantly
improved. The ISDN network requires the use of a terminal adapter (TA) to connect the data
    terminal to the ISDN network.

Compression
  - Both commercial and propriety compression programs can be utilized to reduce the overall
size of data before transmission. This reduces the overall cost of transferring data.
There are a variety of compression algorithms available. They are selected dependent on
the type and application of the data files to be transferred.

Equipment Requirements
  - Equipment requirements are dependent on the application.

Internet - LAN/WAN access:
  - PC for mobile location with internet access software; synchronous interface card or
router to connect the PC to the Inmarsat-B terminal; and terrestrial ISDN or Switched 56
kbps service, terminal adapter and network server.

Internet FTP access through the Stratos server:
  - PC for mobile location with internet access software; synchronous interface card or
router to connect the PC to the Inmarsat-B terminal; and Internet access through an
    Internet Service Provider.

Video conferencing:
  - PC for mobile location with G.728 compliant video conferencing hardware and software
(synchronous interface support); PC for terrestrial location with G.728 compliant video
conferencing hardware and software (ISDN interface support); and terrestrial ISDN or
    Switched 56 kbps service.

Multiple voice, data and fax circuits:
  - Multiplexers at each location (multiplexers divide the 64 kbps data stream into several
    slower speed circuits.
